Specialty Woods is a family owned and operated custom solid wood furniture business, and was first established in 1980 as a small shop in Spokane, Washington. We are now located in Nine Mile Falls, Washington; a little north of Spokane having moved the operation in 1987. In 2004, we have added another 40' x 60' new shop, to our existing manufacturing facility to better and quicker serve our customers demand.

Our focus is on the designing and building of custom handcrafted furniture, which is made from solid wood boards crafted specifically to meet your needs in a custom product. Specialty Woods specializes in all wood conference tables, including unique custom designed executive desks. We are building integrity into all of our Solid Wood Conference Tables.

Owner and founder : Neal Burns has been designing and building custom furniture most of his life. His fine craftsmanship shows in the entire Specialty Woods Custom solid wood furniture pieces, of which are heirloom quality. Every piece that is built is made from all solid wood boards that Neal has hand picked for quality and color. Picking out highly figured wood grains for our custom conference tables are confluence with brilliant wood grain. The key to building a great custom design conference room table, is unifying the wood grains, plus bringing exotic hardwoods together to capture the most interesting characteristics of the wood. Our shop uses the finest hardware available. We use the best wired data ports, audio and communication hardware, with the latest technology out there that is available.

All of our products receive a meticulously applied hand rubbed oil finishes and sealers before passing our rigorous quality control inspection.

A Specialty Woods signature plaque is affixed to every piece we manufacture so you know you are getting an original. Each item which is personally hand built from start to finish by Neal Burns. We utilizes the best construction and joinery techniques known in the industry. Neal Burns is well known for his unique designs of (solid wood inlay work) especially the corporate inlaid logos.

Judy Burns a very talented artist in her own right, does the intricate detail carvings and the fine delicate designs in wood and glass projects. Judy manages and maintains our Specialty Woods website. Judy also manages the business records. Neal and I are currently working on a new hand carved desk coming soon, with in weeks from now just incredibly beautiful. We occasionally employ part-time wood working specialists who assist with our bigger projects.

Design : We will work with you to design exactly what you want in a custom product. Any drawings, photos, or sketches that you have will help in the design process. Together we can create that perfect piece that you have been looking for. From design to reality, the possibilities are endless. Our custom handcrafted Conference tables , Desks and Credenzas are all built with the same high quality traditional skills which results in designing and creating a custom made product, that can be handed down for generations to come.

Something to think about when considering a Custom solid wood Conference Table, Credenza, Desks and fine handcrafted furniture. Understand construction methods. The terminology classifying solid hardwood furniture construction can be confusing, but there are generally three categories: Solid hardwood, which means that each exposed furniture part is made from solid hardwood lumber. Next there is (Hardwood veneers), which are thin slices of wood bonded to plywood or particleboard. And artificial laminates, which are simulations of natural wood. Solid hardwood furniture is durable because it stands up well to the inevitable abuse inflicted by the every day use and elements of life. Scratches and nicks can be sanded out and the piece refinished to look as good as new.

Purchasing and Shipping : If you decide to purchase a custom product, Specialty Woods will send a cost proposal by Fax, e-mail, or postal mail. You return the signed sales proposal with a 50% deposit. All orders require a 50% deposit to begin the project. During the process of building a custom piece we keep our clients constantly up to date with progress reports and photos of their project. When the project is completed, we will send you detailed photos of the complete project. The remainder of the cost of the project is due prior to shipping. Most orders take 6 to 8 weeks from start to finish, depending on the size of project. Even though our prices are competitive our quality is absolutely superior. We are sincere in our desire to provide you with a product you will cherish for many years into the future.

We still use the same material vendors we have had for over twenty five years. Each one is a trusting personal and professional relationship. Allowing us to pass on better prices to our customers.

Prices - F.O.B. Spokane, WA. : Shipping quotes are included in the price. When placing an order with Specialty Woods we will provide the shipping quote and a delivery schedule. Shipping is available national in the continental United States, Alaska and Hawaii. We also ship Internationally upon request. The best method of shipping is determined by the dimensions and weight of the order. Large and heavier items are blanket wrapped, shrink wrapped and crated with wood strong backs for extra security, for shipment on padded Van Lines. Some smaller custom pieces may be boxed and shipped with other carriers-UPS or FedEx and as per customer preference. Each product is insured during the shipping process. Moving solutions to meet all your needs nation wide. All we need is your postal zip code to provide a shipping quote.

Storage Fees : If the process of picking up or delivery becomes delayed due to the customer, a storage fee will be applied per piece, and will be charged to the customer for each week, Specialty Woods stores the customers custom furniture pieces. In the event legal proceedings are instituted by Specialty Woods to collect any sums deemed to be over due, customer agrees to pay reasonable attorney fees incurred by Specialty Woods. Any and all property not paid in full within 30 days of first notice for delivery or customer pick up (by any and all means) will result in the right of re-possession to Specialty Woods. Storage fees, late fees and all other stated fees will be added to the amount due to Specialty Woods. We reserve the right to sell any and all merchandise that is unpaid by the above conditions at a price set by us.
